Muddy Creek Fish Passage and Habitat Enhancement Project

Muddy Creek is a 12-mile system that originates on the Fremont-Winema National Forest at 6000 ft and connects to Cottonwood Creek, which is one of Goose Lakes largest tributary streams. Muddy Creek was separated by Juniper Reservoir in 1965 and has been a complete barrier to six miles of quality fish habitat. Through the efforts of the project, fish passage was restored at the spillway of the reservoir allowing Goose Lake Redband trout and other native fish upstream access for spawning, rearing, and refuge.
